Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan are to star in Raj Kumar Santoshi’s Jis Lahore Nahin Dekhya Woh Jamiya Nahin, & the film will be shot not in Pakistan but in India.
He confirmed this news by saying that shooting in Lahore seems impossible mainly because they may not get the structural design of the separation times any more. So Nitish Roy is constructing Lahore in Hyderabad for them. Each and every lane, by lane, the transport, and the electric wires will be constructed again. The set will look more like Lahore than original Lahore. The reason behind this is the lack of period architecture is not the only reason for the film not being shot in Lahore. Producers are worried about the security facet.
Apart from Mahesh Bhatt, who shot a small scene of his film Awaarapan in Pakistan, actors and producers from Bollywood carry on to be turned away from across the border. It seems many from the film industry insiders are miserable about the truth that a film on Lahore is being shot in Hyderabad. But Santoshi and Tips are all set to shoot from January 2009, soon after their other mutual project, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif is complete. This is Santoshi’s second pre-Independence film after the movie.
The Legend of Bhagat Singh, & an even bigger challenge because he has to combine drama and literature into history. While they are getting the cast and crew into place his art designer, Nitish Roy and he are doing extensive research on Lahore during the Partition. They want to imitate each and every detail.
